Transfer to airport for flight to Alta Floresta, in the southern Amazon. Arrival in Alta Floresta and a short transfer to Floresta Amazônica Hotel for a welcome drink and then transfer by car and boat to Cristalino Jungle lodge. After dinner, introduction to the Amazon with slide show of the flora and fauna. The Cristalino Jungle Lodge is a good spot for birdwatchers and butterfly enthusiasts: in the vicinity are more than 550 bird species, and around 2000 species of butterfly! Several species of endangered primates live in the canopy of the pristine rainforest around the lodge, and mammals such as tapir, agouti and deer inhabit the forest floor. They share the forest with a host of other smaller creatures, including a newly discovered poison-arrow frog. There are more than 20 km of well-maintained trails along which these wonders of the forest can be observed.

Day 3 The Amazon – Cristalino Lodge
Early wake up to observe the awakening of the forest from the 50m high canopy tower. The aluminum tower rises through the forest canopy and is considered the best in the Neotropics for observing canopy birds, primates and flora. It has three spacious platforms at different levels. From here one can also experience an enchanting misty dawn, observe spectacular sunsets or to watch a clear star-studded sky. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Departure by motor boat to the Brazil Nut Trail, in the lodge's private reserve, on the opposite side of the Cristalino River. The 40-min trip upriver leads to the start of the trail, where huge Brazil nut trees can be observed in pristine forest. When the trees are in fruit, you can taste fresh Brazil nuts collected in the wild. Return downriver by canoes, kayak, inflatable boat or motor boat with engines turned off. (1.135 m long). Return to the lodge for lunch. Two options in the afternoon: walk the "Rocky" trail to the Tree House, a screened house 6m high, overlooking a natural clay lick that is regularly visited by tapirs, peccaries and deer at night or during day time. Quiet visitors have a good chance of viewing some of these animals; the other option is a rope and abseiling course. Close to the lodge is a 30m rope bridge and a 20m rope ladder that leads to the top of tall rocks. Descent is by abseiling - trained guides supervise this activity and all safety equipment is provided. Dinner by campfire. After dinner, night caiman spotting by the floating deck or in motor boats, and observation of nocturnal life of the forest.

Day 4 The Amazon – Cristalino Lodge
Canopy tower before breakfast. Walk the Caja Trail, located close to the lodge, and excellent for observation of primates who feed on the "caja" fruit, such as the endangered White Whiskered Spider Monkey and the rare White-nosed Saki Monkey. (2.198m ). Swimming before lunch. Lunch. Departure by motor boat to the Serra Trail, located in the lodge's private reserve, on the opposite side of the Cristalino River. The forest changes as the trail leads up a short, steep hillside to reach a savannah type of forest growing on top of granite outcrops. There are interesting wild flowers here, and rare birds. There are often wonderfully clear views and beautiful sunsets from the top of the Serra. Return down river by canoes, kayak, inflatable boat or motor boat with engines turned off.( 1.260 m long). In the evening a candlelight farewell dinner by the campfire.

Day 5 The Amazon - Pantanal
